Fister Automotive is a manufacturer of electric cars based in California, U.S, have a plan to give their electric cars to customers. Electric cars to be given are called Fister Karma. Fister Karma is an electric car which has plug-in hybrid car technology.
Distribution of electric car is a manufacturer’s way to test these electric cars. Besides of safety internal testing according to a car standard industry, some of electric cars will be given to customers for testing in a real condition on the highway. Fisker Automotive have a plan to produce about 100 units of Fister Karma in this year. They have a contract with Valmet Automotive. Valmet Automotive have manufactured Porsche Boxsters and Porsche Caymans.
For the first time, this plug-in hybrid car was exhibited at North American International Auto Show on January 14th, 2008. Design of Fister Karma almost seems like Aston Martin, a sport car with a luxury and sporty designs. Fisker Automotive claimed Fister Karma is a first electric sport car.
These luxury electric sport cars are powered with rechargeable batteries. With its electric driving mode, Fister Karma can reach up to 50 miles (80 km). For a long distance, you can change to hybrid mode, it makes a Fister Karma capable to reach up to 300 miles (480 km).
Fisker Automotive will start a mass production of Fister Karma in 2011 and have an estimated production of 15,000 electric cars per year. They expected to sell a Fister Karma on price range of U.S. $ 87,900.
